Hong Kong & Macau Explorer
6 days
Discover the different sides of Hong Kong on this 5-night program. Think of Hong Kong and images of the vibrant city and lovely Victoria Harbour spring to mind. However, three quarters of Hong Kong's total area is countryside, including 40% designated as country parks and special areas that are all easily accessible. Culture and heritage are what sets Hong Kong apart from the rest of Asia. With over 100 years of colonial history and a largely Chinese population, Hong Kong is a unique fusion of Western and Eastern cultures where the old and the new live side by side. Its incense-filled temples, colonial buildings and glass-and-steel skyscrapers, along with its ancient traditions and lively festivals, have made Hong Kong a living culture experience. Begin with a tour of Hong Kong Island, a highlight is the amazing views of the city, harbour, and mountains from Victoria Peak. Take a trip to Lantau Island, Hong Kong's largest outlying island, and enjoy a dramatic cable car ride to visit the Giant Buddha sitting serenely atop Ngong Ping plateau. It is not to be missed. Also included is a full-day excursion to neighboring Macau, the former Portuguese colony home to a multitude of historic sites. There is plenty of time to explore Hong Kong on your own, and there is no shortage of sights to visit, shopping opportunities, and excellent restaurants serving the very best Chinese cuisine in the world.
