Hong Kong stopover
4 days
Once a collection of fishing villages in the 1800's, Hong Kong's magnificent harbor has been the key to it's development as a trading port and today stands as a leading financial and services center in Asia. The unique blend of eastern and western influences, matched by diverse attractions and stunning countryside, has also made Hong Kong Asia's prime tourist destination. Beautiful Victoria Harbour separates Hong Kong Island from Kowloon, and no visit would be complete without a ride on the Star Ferry between the two sides. Luxury hotels abound in Hong Kong, as do wonderful shopping opportunities and amazing culinary experiences. This 3-night program gives you the best of Hong Kong's highlights. Touring Hong Kong Island you will ascend to the top of Victoria Peak for a birds-eye view of the city and harbour, ride a sampan in Aberdeen Fishing Village, and pay a stop at Stanley Market, famous for it's shopping and wonderful bargains. Learn of Hong Kong's heritage with visits to Tai Fu Tai, an opulent residence of a Mandarin and architectural delight, Lo Wai for insights into village life in the New Territories, and learn the roots of ancient belief at Man Mo Temple. At the Lam Tsuen Wishing Trees, local villagers burn joss sticks and incense papers hoping their wishes will come true.
